- Does the lowering of the blood pressure reduce cardiovascular
risk?
Yes, the cardiovascular risk decreases with an antihypertensive drug therapy
as bas been shown by several medical studies. Mainly an American study, carried
out in the town of Framingham (study of Framingham) since 1950.
We also know that the more
the blood pressure is lowered, the larger the benefit will be. However
one should not, in general, lower the blood pressure too much, as
side effects could become apparent (faintness, falls...).
