Sometimes, an ambulatory blood pressure measurement during 24 hours
is necessary
For the follow-up of a high blood pressure, the practitioner may do a 24 hours
ambulatory blood pressure measurement. The principal indications of this examination
are the evaluation of the antihypertensive treatment effectiveness, looking
for an increase of high blood pressure, and finally, looking for an arterial
hypotension induced by the drugs.
Usually measurements are
carried out every 15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes during
the night. You may start the measurement of the blood pressure yourself
if you feel a symptom. This means that the person who sets the ambulatory
blood pressure device for you has to show you how to start a measurement
of the blood pressure.
